Expanding pathways in Engineering
Launched in 2017 with the support of corporate partner Chevron, AvenueE works to recruit, retain and graduate a diverse population of transfer students who go on to successful careers in engineering or computer science. AvenueE is committed to helping students who show promise in these fields reach for new horizons as inspired, inclusive and impactful alums.
California hosts the world's largest hub of technology innovation, and there is huge demand in this burgeoning sector for more diverse talent and leadership. AvenueE helps transfer students reach their fullest potential and graduate ready to meet industry needs. We recruit students from various backgrounds who demonstrate leadership potential and dedication to improving access to opportunities for women and others historically underrepresented in engineering and computer science. Our students are passionate about diversifying these fields and understand that diverse teams net better outcomes for all.
AvenueE is cultivating career pathways for engineers of the future - the diverse leaders and thinkers who will make the world we share a better place for all. Chevron is proud to partner with UC Davis and support the success of this powerful pipeline program." - Rhonda Morris, Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, Chevron
With industry investment, AvenueE has doubled in size in just five years while exponentially growing its impact. Industry partners play significant roles in our program, not only as potential employers but as professional mentors, internship providers and program advisors who can speak to the skills and expertise that distinguish top job candidates. As they consider their post-graduation paths, AvenueE students gain hands-on experience and receive invaluable guidance from engineering, technology and computer science professionals.
Corporate and philanthropic support for AvenueE broadens pathways of opportunity into industry, ensuring that our students continue to access one-of-a-kind preparation to become tomorrow's top minds in technology and engineering.
AvenueE was a huge help in developing better networking skills with workshops, panels, and interdisciplinary groupwork. AvenueE inspired me to go into research which is how I got my job as undergraduate research assistant my junior year. I've been working in the same research group since then and now pursuing my PhD. -
